October 23, 2026 is the date Activision is putting on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, with campaign early access listed for October 16. That gives pre-order players a week to get through the story before multiplayer crowds pile in. A lot of people are also checking side terms like Bot Lobby MW4 while trying to work out what's actually live, what's marketing, and what's still waiting for a proper reveal.

Launch access and platform wrinkles

The store setup is fairly simple at first glance. There's a Standard Edition, a Vault Edition, and an upgrade route if you start with Standard and change your mind later. Xbox, Xbox PC, PlayStation, Battle.net, and Steam all appear as normal buying options. Nintendo Switch 2 is the odd one. It's named in the platform lineup, but the buy box still says Nintendo support is coming soon. So, yes, Switch 2 is being shown, but no, it doesn't look like a clean pre-order path yet. PC players also need to pay attention. TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot are listed as requirements, and the wording leaves room for more security checks.

Campaign split between war and revenge

The campaign is being sold as two stories running side by side. One follows Private Park and a young South Korean squad during a North Korean invasion of the Korean Peninsula. That's the grounded front-line side: trenches, collapsing lines, and soldiers trying to stay alive when the map is falling apart. The other thread follows Captain Price, who's now working outside the system and being hunted by people who used to be close to the same world he served. The locations stretch wider than Korea too, with New York, Paris, Mumbai, and occupied city zones all mentioned. It sounds big, but not in the usual "tourist postcard" way. The pitch is war pressure on one side, dirty covert business on the other.

Multiplayer is leaning on control

For multiplayer, the promise is 12 new 6v6 maps at launch, plus larger maps built for infantry and vehicle fights. The phrase that matters most is Ballistic Authority. Activision is framing it as a weapon-first system where aiming, handling, sound, stance, visibility, field of view, and bullet behaviour all work together. In plain English, they're saying shots should feel less random. No bloom guesswork, no mystery spread doing half the job behind the curtain. DMZ, bonuses, and what's still missing

DMZ is back as a separate extraction mode, and the description keeps it loose on purpose. Vault Edition adds the Hostile Alliance Operator Pack, Special Forces Operator Pack, Signature Weapon Collection, one season of BlackCell, and a DMZ Deployment Bonus. BlackCell won't unlock until the Season 1 Battle Pass is available in-game. The beta is still less clear. C.O.D.E. Bowl VII on June 20, 2026 will hand out early access codes through linked Twitch and YouTube accounts, but the actual beta date, map names, weapon stats, ranked rules, cross-play details, and Nintendo pre-order timing are still unanswered.
